About the Butterfly Stool

This beautiful little stool is an original prototype, constructed during the filming of my latest video, “The Butterfly Joint Kit and Project.”

It was designed and built in order to showcase my Butterfly Joint, which is also used as a woodworking joint in many of my chair designs. Beginning a few years ago, I set about to invent a woodworkers joint which was not only strong and durable, but also beautiful and something which I could call my own. The joint used in this stool is the result of over two years of trial and error. I now teach other woodworkers how to use this joinery in their own projects.
